Week 8 – Breakheart and Lake Quannapowitt

Firstly, thanks to AJ for stepping up to help coordinate water stops in my absence! And thanks to everyone volunteering to pitch in and help keep everyone hydrated along the way.

This week you’ll be doing 18 miles through the hills of Breakheart and the streets of Wakefield. Take a look at the maps, this one gets a bit tricky between water stops 3 and 4. That’s the only place you’ll be running somewhere we haven’t run yet in the training.

AJ has posted a call for WS helpers on the forum. This is one of the more difficult runs to support so be sure to thank those that volunteer their cars. If you can’t volunteer your car, volunteer a ride to those that are leaving their cars for you. And also remember to keep their trunks clean!

The miles are starting to stretch out pretty far. Time to test out your marathon clothing and your pre-race meals. Enjoy your run!

Who’s in? ROLL CALL!!!

I think I’m in for the full. I can leave my car anywhere for waterstops if needed or pick anyone up from a stop.Let me know. 617-293-9318

  2. Maryanne Martin says:

    I am attempting the FULL…

Thanks for organizing AJ…let me know if you’d like to create a 5th waterstop (I am happy to leave my car somewhere) for those of us that tend to enjoy the scenery a bit longer while running the FULL so that Thuy and Tom don’t need to be out at Stops 4 & 5 too long : )

    I am at 781-632-2274.

  3. Alastair Drummond says:

Thank you, Thank you!! You all make this so easy! So- I am re-supplying today (Friday), and it looks like Tom and Maryanne can do 4 and 5 respectively – freeing up Thuy to do the half and not have to wait at the end. Hope that makes sense! ( the fifth stop is indeed at Nicks Pizza- if you include 1 AND 2 at Breakheart ) Brian -thanks for your offer! It should be another great day. Cheers.

Have a great run, everyone! I’m not in for this week’s run. I’ll be on a snowboard on a mountain in Maine, hopefully staying upright and avoiding trees and people.

was looking forward to peanut butter flavored GU so don’t use it all up without me.

  5. Brian Walfield says:

    Alastair,
Does that mean that I get #3 or people pick up or are you all set?

What? Peanut butter gu?? I’m in. I think I am going to follow the long runners up Farm Street, take a left on Nahant to Nick’s pizza and back to Breuggers, might change my mind. It that is the plan. Thanks to all the volunteers!

Right. There you are. See you tomorrow morning!
