Week 14 – Taking it easy for the last long run before Boston

Hello runners,

This is the last SLR before Boston. This is the run to just keep the legs remembering what to do for race day, but without any pressure to push it or try anything new. We are, by the way, in the ‘Don’t Do Anything Stupid’ phase of training as you know.

We’ll run an easy 12.5 miles, appreciating all the hills that have accompanied you on this marathon training adventure, appreciating all our comrades who have shared sometimes too many intimate details of bodily functions and skin chafing avoidance theories, and appreciating lessons learned in the past 14 weeks that will bring you to the finish line of a long, long run.

Some of you are training for later marathons, so you may not share the same wistful feelings as those ready to lace up in Hopkinton. None the less, let’s get out there and enjoy this SLR.

Who is in? ROLL CALL…
