Week 13 – Water Stop Help Needed

This week’s run of 14.8 miles will likely need 3 people. I’m having trouble opening the map (could be a problem, Jim) so I can’t be certain of the locations. Volunteers will be needed either way.

Walt is promising for a very nice day weather-wise to be handing out gatorade and water.

Please respond if you think you can help.

  1. Mike York says:

    Ed,
I can do a water stop. I am looking to do around 18 miles so I could run back to my car after the 14.8.

    Mike

  2. Nancy says:

Ed, I can also offer up my car, and plan on running as well.

  3. Walter Drag says:

Whoops… Not sure if I promised nice day Ed… Heres the options… model guidance is variable except that we know we will have a north to northeast wind of 10 to 20 mph.

I am also pretty certain there is going to be lots of cloudiness (thats good for limiting heat)… and also i am pretty sure that our run will start with temps in the mid or upper 30s and that it will end with temps ranging from either mid to upper 30s to as much as the mid 40s.

Sounds ideal… one little problem… n-ne wind can also indicate a noreaster. it is possible we will run in drizzle, or rain, or at worst…maybe a little snow or sleet. That risk in my opinion is about 30 or 40 percent… with dry still the more probable condition but on shaky ground.

Will update when we get closer and more confident either way. No matter, a good training run lies ahead. I’m in for 16 (end add on).

  4. Jim says:

Map opens fine for me, anyone else having a problem?

The route is similar to two weeks ago… Swains Pond, out the Fells around into Saugus. Instead of Breakheart we’ll be turning to head out Farm St to Nahant and back Main.

    Water Stop Locations:
    1) The Citizens Bank parking lot in Malden at Main St by the end of Forest St

    2) The Knoll by the Middle School

    3) Nahant and Main St in Wakefield, by Dunkin Donuts

For those doing 18 (Providence people) I suggest we can tack on a loop of Pine Banks to add 3 more. If that’s the case, one more stop at Brueggers as we go by could be handy, or if Water Stop 1 is still there we can reuse that one.

  5. Walter Drag says:

map opens and prints fine by me, Thanks Nancy, Mike Jim and Ed. wd

  6. Ed Torres says:

I need to get supplies to Mike and Nancy. If noone else steps up I’ll have to do the third stop but will need a pickup/ride back to Brueggers. I plan to be in Melrose tomorrow (Sat) so I could do a drop off. I could also catch Mike early Sunday morning at his stop. Let me know your preference.

Nancy, can you take the Citizen’s bank stop at Pine Banks, WS#1?
Mike, can you take the Knoll across from the Middle School on the Fellsway, WS#2?

Looking for a volunteer at DD in Wakefield.

    Ed

  7. Tracy Deats (Pickering) says:

    Ed,

I can leave my car at the DD in Wakefield for the final waterstop if someone can pick me up for transport to Brueggers in the morning and back to my car after the run.

    Tracy

  8. Mike York says:

    Ed
I will plan on getting supplies from you Sunday Morning unless you tell me otherwise. Let me know if you need me to pick up any supplies for the waterstops.

    Thanks

    Mike

  9. Lois Parker Carmona says:

I think you now have 3 WS volunteers already but if you need one more we can use my car.

    Lois

  10. Ed Torres says:

Thanks for all the offers. If everyone confirms with this plan we’ll be covered. Slight change from my last message.

Nancy can take DD since she lives close by.
Mike can take WS#2 across from the Middle School.
Lois, can you pick up Nancy on your way down 93 to 128 then on your way up Main st pick up Mike across from the Middle school?
Tracy can you take Citizen’s Bank at Pine Banks? Jim will pick you up and give you supplies.

I’ll drop off the supplies to Jim on Sat. He can get them to Nancy for her stop and for Mike at the pickup.

Lois, it would be a big help if you can handle the pickup(s).

Make sure to respond that you are all OK with this plan.
    Thanks again everyone.

  11. Nick Lamberti says:

    Ed!

I can pick up Nancy at DD around 7:45 on my way into Melrose from Rt. 1!

    Ngl

  12. Tracy Deats says:

Yes, I will take WS1 at the Citizen’s Bank on Main near Forest. Jim, let me know if you can pick me up with the supplies and what time! See everyone Sunday!

  13. Nancy says:

sounds good. I’ll expect to be picked up by Nick, and I’ll call Jim to arrange for supplies.

  14. Mike York says:

    sounds good to me.

    mike

  15. Jim says:

Ok, I’ll get supplies to Nancy sometime today (Nancy, I don’t have them yet, so I’ll touch base with you when I do)

Tracy, I’ll pick you up around 7:40 at the bank.

Who’s picking up Mike now? Ed, can you do that on your way in? Then you can give him the supplies.

See you all at some point.

  16. Ed Torres says:

OK. I got Mike. Everyone else seems covered.

Lois is off the hook this week.

Thanks everyone! It’s great to have all this help.

  17. Lois Parker Carmona says:

What’s this? I have no duties? If anyone changes their minds about the pickups, I’d be happy to swing by and pick up at any of the stops.

    I’ll keep checking in.

  18. Denyce Curis says:

Looks like you guys have covered the water stops… so I will be there for the run – haven’t been running regularly, lately.. so I’m planning on about 6 miles.
