Week 13 – Tapering for Boston (on Saturday)

First I would like to say I’ve written most of a lengthy recap of last week’s run, I just haven’t had time to finish it up and post it. Thanks again to all that helped with water stops: Barry, Liz, and Nate especially. I hope you enjoyed your day on the course, we definitely appreciated your support throughout the run. The run itself went just as I expected it to. Tremendous performances by everyone, no matter what you did you showed a lot of determination to get through your miles.

This week’s run will be Swain’s Pond and Farm St. Starting out similar to the run to Breakheart a few weeks ago. I had wanted to do a Horn Pond run instead, but considering the amount of flooding in the Winchester area, I’m not sure we can get through that area dry. If anyone has traveled the roads through there in the past day or so let me know if they are still wet. If not we may still change the route.

Due to Easter the run will be on Saturday! I’ll be in my PJs eating candy at 8AM on Sunday. So with that, we only have today to plan. There are three water stops. I’m not sure who’ll be helping me so post here if you want to do a stop.

Also post here if you’re coming. It’s roll call time! Who’s in for SATURDAY, 8AM!

Ok, water stop plan for tomorrow:

Dave, meet me and Lois at Nick’s Pizza at 7:40. Take a bucket from me and head to Citizen’s Bank in Malden where you’ll find Judi, drop the bucket, get the Judi, head back to Brueggers. I’ll leave a bucket at Lois car and then Lois and I will head to the knoll by Melrose Middle School and pick up Jen there, then head back to Brueggers. Everyone got it?

    Lois at Nick’s,
    Jen at the Knoll,
    Judi at Citizens Bank,
Dave and I moving people around.

If you accept your assignment let me know by posting here.
    Thanks!
Now I have to run to Shaws for some Gatorade!

  17. Jim says:

Also… I’ve got no Gu! Since I worked today and didn’t have time to get to Marathon Sports to replenish the Gu supplies (which I usually do on Saturdays) I’m completely out. If you need Gu for your 14 miler tomorrow, bring some with you. There will be plenty of candy though. Sorry 🙁

  21. Jennifer Rapaport says:

I am just reading this message now, 7am on Saturday. I don’t know where the knoll is so I can’t meet anyone there. I will be at Bruegger’s as planned and can drive to the knoll, park there, then run back along the course to meet the group if that’s OK. My home number is 781-662-1100 if someone wants to call here this morning.

  22. Jennifer Rapaport says:

Is the “knoll” that little parking area across from the Melrose High School? The one beside El Pond? That’s all I can think of. If anyone is awake reading this, post something and I will be there. Thx!

  23. Jim says:

Yes Jen, that’s the knoll. We’ll see you there right before 8!

  24. Sue Clough says:

    Morning Jen,
That’s it. Right across from the High School next to the soccer fields or swimming pools that they were this past week. 🙂 Enjoy your run and Happy Easter!

  25. Jennifer Rapaport says:

I will be there! I have a box of GUs I will bring too. Jen

  26. Genevieve Rajewski says:

Whoops! Didn’t think it might be on Saturday. Hope it was great! See you next Sunday.

  27. Genevieve Rajewski says:

Also: Nate loved helping out and meeting everyone. I think he’s hooked! 🙂

  28. Joe Terranova says:

I ran at 8:30…did Breakheart, then back out and up Main Saugus, Nahant, Main Wakefield….serves me right for not checking in. Weather was great. Great job to all of you. Sorry I missed running with you.
