Saturday Long Run

Due to Mother’s Day and the Melrose Run for Women on Sunday, this week we’ll meet on Saturday for the long run.

We have Dan’s loooooong run this week, 22 miles and then our last marathoner of the season can start tapering. The plan at the moment is to have Dan park out on the route 3.5 miles away from Brueggers as a water stop, run back to Brueggers to meet us, run a 15 mile route, then Dan will finish up with a run back to his car. 3.5+15+3.5 = 22! I’ll be running this week but I have to be home by 10:30 so I’ll only be doing the 15. Who else is interested in helping Dan through his last long training run? I think I’ll need one more water stop volunteer as well.

Who’s in and for how much? I’ll figure out the route once I get some feedback.

    I guess I’m in…yikes!

  2. Lois Parker Carmona says:

wow – Dan actually posted a response! That prompts me to say I’m in! But i gotta run off early to go celebrate mom’s day with my family so someone will have to cheer Dan to the finish in my place (I bring a good share of ‘Woo Hoo’s).

  3. Anthony Capua says:

I need to be home mid- morning too, but I’m in for 12- 13 miles!

  4. Lois Parker Carmona says:

oh – i take it back. i probably can’t do a saturday morning run after all.

  5. Dan Slattery says:

Hey Lois – you can’t promise woo-hoo’s and then take them back!
    P.S. this makes 2 responses!

Hi. I can waterstop. What will the route be? I was thinking of doing Breakheart but I’m in the “don’t do anything stupid just because you can” mode. If you need another stop, I can park my car with the gate unlocked and go out and run a bit, hopefully to meet up with your advance to the next ws. I can also set up again elsewhere if that helps. White Explorer, gold runners.

  7. Dave Hayes says:

Oops – I didn’t read the last sentence about figuring out the route until later. Why not make Dan run 10 loops of Ell Pond?

  8. Nancy says:

Katie ran around her basement during a snow storm, but I hear it’s lovely this time of year, what do you say Dan?

  9. Jim says:

From the feedback I’ve gotten, this is the plan. We’ll run the Week 4 Route. Dan will park at the water stop and run back to Brueggers in something around 3.7 miles. He’ll get there around 8, get water from my car, and Cap, AJ, and I will join him… and anyone else that shows up. From there we’ll run the route using Dan’s car for the waterstops. Dave, I’m not sure what distance you want to do, or if you want to join in for a Spot Pond run, but jump in wherever you like. On the way back people can cut down Wyoming if they want to cut the run down to about 13.5 miles. After we’re done Dan will follow his pre-run route back to his car to finish up his 22.

I’m going to pick up a few Gus, some Snickers, Gatorade and Water.

  10. Barry Cossette says:

I’m in for the 13ish route. I need to take all my frustrations from work out on my legs. One other thing…
Jim I was surprised that you know someone named Gus nevermind a few of them. It’s a pretty rare name nowadays.

  11. Mary Corbett says:

I’m confused as to what the route actually is, but may try to join for a few miles if I can get out. Go Dan!

  12. Rachelle Horwitz says:

Yup, I’ll be there for 13ish as well. I’m also confused but I’ll just follow peple
