Fall Marathon/Half Marathon Training

The focus of the Sunday Long Run program is to prepare MRC runners (and anyone else that wants to join us) for upcoming marathons and half marathons. You can learn more about how our program works by clicking the “about” link on the sidebar to the right. Beneath that you’ll see the training plan for the upcoming session. This plan is geared toward preparing for the Baystate Marathon/The Sun 1/2 Marathon in mid October. If you aren’t running either of those, or you have your own plan you wish to follow, feel free to join us and tailor the distances as needed.

I’ve added links to fall races in the sidebar. If you haven’t picked something to train for yet this’ll give you some ideas of marathons and half marathons in the Northeast this fall. If you have picked something already please post here who you are and what you’re training for, it helps to train as a group if we know what everyone is training for.

If you have any questions/comments/suggestions about the Sunday Long Run and the training schedule you can either post them here or e-mail me at JimCarson@MelroseRunningClub.com.

See you Sunday at 8AM at Brueggers!
Jim

Medoc Sept 6. Anyone training for a late summer M (Sept) and wants to do 14-15 this Sunday…let me know. We’ll join everyone at Brueggers for the 8.8 portion, adding 6 on in advance with a 7am departure. Thank you! Walt

  2. Mike York says:

I am in for the 8.8, maybe a few more after.

I’ll be there. I’m thinking of Baystate if my body will go with the plan! Just have to try it and see. See you Sunday.

  4. Jim says:

I’m planning on running the Manchester City Marathon this fall in my quest to run a marathon in every New England state. If I make it through the training and finish NH I’ll only have Maine left!

  5. Nancy says:

I’m also planning on running Manchester marathon, but this Sunday, Sue and I will be doing the Cape Cod version of the long run. See you next week.

  6. Joanne Piper says:

I signed up for the Seacoast Half Marathon in early Nov. I will be starting from scratch to train and can’t start yet but am looking forward to the Sunday long runs ASAP!! The ONLY good reason to get up early on Sunday!
