{"id":207,"date":"2019-12-24T13:32:24","date_gmt":"2019-12-24T13:32:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.melroserunningclub.com\/RacingSeries\/?p=207"},"modified":"2019-12-24T16:34:03","modified_gmt":"2019-12-24T16:34:03","slug":"2019-racing-series-wrap-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/melroserunningclub.com\/RacingSeries\/2019\/12\/24\/2019-racing-series-wrap-up\/","title":{"rendered":"2019 Racing Series Wrap Up"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>What a year for the <strong>Melrose Running Club Racing Series<\/strong>. 2019 was our third year and had the highest participation with 262 &#8220;runners.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That number includes many people who ran multiple races, many new runners and our Racing Series winners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.melroserunningclub.com\/RacingSeries\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Judy-Dolan-at-2019-Running-of-the-Leprechauns.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-209\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Judy Dolan<\/strong> came in first place with 17 points. In addition to being our top runner this year, Judy also captained the <strong>Super Sunday<\/strong> race event which had 31 runners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mike Dolan<\/strong> and <strong>Cynthia Berger<\/strong> came in second place with 13 points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was great to see new club members at the races and to see new runners going out for their first 5K or half marathon! That&#8217;s what this is all about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Running is called a solitary sport and often it is. When a group of us go to a race and spend time together afterwards, it doesn&#8217;t feel so solitary. I think many of us got to know each other better this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"text-align:center\">2020 Racing Series Calendar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I have updated the Racing Series Calendar to 2020. Registration for races through April is open. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have swapped out <strong>The Running of the Leprechauns<\/strong> for the <strong>Malden Half and 5 Miler<\/strong>. They are on the same day in 2020. Malden gives us two race distances to choose from and allows you to get 5 racing points early in the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I removed the <strong>Cure SMA 5K<\/strong> in August since the club sponsors the <strong>Hallmark Health 5K <\/strong>in August. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rest of the schedule should remain the same as 2019.
