Hawaii 13.1
Posted by Andy Nagelin in Club Races on November 1, 2020
I’ve added two Virtual Hawai’i events.
For $20 you can run the 100% Pure Kona Coffee Marathon or Half. You will also be entered into their prize drawing which includes gear from Big Island Running Company, 100% Pure Kona Coffee and more!
A shirt and medal are not included at this price.
Run the Virtual race this year and set a goal to run on The Big Island next year, or some day.
I’ve also added my personal favorite The Honolulu Marathon.
This Hawai’i event offers the option to run The Honolulu Marathon for $45 or the Start to Park 10K for $40. This also gives you access to the Honolulu Marathon Virtual Beachfest.
You can run the marathon on more than one day by selecting “Multi-day event” at registration.
There is also The Royal Challenge which includes the Start to Park 10K AND the Honolulu Marathon. Registration is $76.
A shirt and medal is provided for each event.

I’ve run The Honolulu Marathon twice and loved it even though it kicked my butt. It’s like Boston if they ran it in July!
You can register and upload your results by Midnight on New Years Eve! And that’s Honolulu time!
You can run the marathon over two days, finish on New Years Eve AND enjoy a cold one or five. It is New Year’s Eve.
When you finish in Kapiolani Park they make you walk to find the tent to pick up your finisher’s shirt. No finish, no shirt!
Right in the park they make the local donut called “Malasala” which is basically a jelly donut. So for the Boston version of the full race experience get some jelly donuts to enjoy with a cold beer on New Year’s Eve.
Here is my race recap from 2018 if you need a little inspiration to sign up.
More 5Ks?
We only have two 5Ks for November and a 5K and 10K for December.
If you have any ideas for 5K or 10K races, please let me know.
Local is good but with virtual races we have the opportunity to “run” in some great locations.
At this point in time, races in late November and anytime in December could work.

Andy
100 Mile Club Update
Posted by Andy Nagelin in Club Races on June 28, 2020
Since early March when we went into CORONA Quarantine all races have either gone virtual or been cancelled.
Since no end appears in site, the Board changed the rules for the 100 Mile Club for 2020.
In order to allow people to maintain their 100 Mile Running Club streak, for 2020 we will have a Virtual 100 Mile Club.
Miles from any ground races will count. So you won’t loose what you had.
2020 Virtual 100 Mile Club Rules
In order for a virtual race to count towards the 100 Mile Club, it needs to meet the following criteria:
- You have to register for the race and pay a registration fee or make a donation of at least $25.00.
- The race organizer has to post finish times somewhere online.
- Once your time is posted, you need to send the link to the results to Thuy Dang.
- The race must be part of the MRC Racing Series.
Enhanced Racing Series Schedule
To enable you to run 100 miles through Race Series races we will be enhancing the Race Series schedule.
We are currently expanding the schedule. We will be adding the Baystate Marathon and Half and the Boston Marathon. Each month will have at least one half marathon.
You will have the opportunity to run races you normally might not be able to because they are too far away, or sell out too quickly. IE, The Falmouth Road Race and Juneau Marathon and Half Marathon!
If you decide that virtual races are not for you, sitting out 2020 will not disrupt your running club streak. We will pick up where we left off in 2021.
Race dates listed are the last date that you can report your results to the race organizer. Some races give you two weeks to run and report your results, some have a specific date to get ‘er done!
It is up to you to register for races that are part of the MRC Racing Series, run the races and report your results to the race AND to Thuy.
Stay tuned for updates, get out there and have a good time and let The Board know if you have questions.
Run well my Friends,
Andy
