2023 Race Series Schedule

December 20th, 2022 No comments

The 2023 Race Series schedule is complete, though some races have not published dates or opened registration yet.

Hangover Classic 5K and 10K – Salisbury, MA at 11:30AM New Year’s Day. Registration is $35, on December 23rd it goes to $40. Start the year right with a point or two.

Super Sunday 5K and 5 Miler – Kendall Square at 10:00AM on Super Bowl Sunday or February 12th. Registration is $40 and $45 respectively with no extra fees. Team MRC is the largest so far. Let’s see if we can get on a party bus this year!

2023 Hill Thrill – (Michelle Benedetti Scholarship Fund) – Haverhill, MA at 10:00AM on March 26th. This is a 5K or 10 Miler and registration is $30 and $40 respectively.

Black Excellence 5K – Lynn, MA at 10:0AM on April 30th. Registration is $27.50 all in and $37.50 after March 30th.

Mystic Herring Run has not published a date yet, but it will be our May race.

Samantha’s Harvest 5K – Reading, MA at 8:30AM on Saturday June 11th. Registration is $22 with a shirt or $12 without.

Jennifer Tinney 5 and 2.5 milers – Boxford, MA at 8:00 AM on July 4th. Registration is not open yet.

The Yankee Homecoming was very popular this year, if people want to run it let me know.

Melrose/Wakefield Health 5K Stride – no information yet but they usually ask us to help out as a community sponsor. So we may have two races in August.

Irish American 5K and 10K – Labor Day weekend. Registration is not open yet but we all know when and where it is!

Melrose YMCA Spooky Sprint 5K – everyone loves this one, registration is not open yet.

DAV 5K – Boston – Hopefully we can get a few more people to run this fun race on The Harbor in Boston in 2023. I’ve never seen so much food after a race.

Jingle Bell Run 5K – Somerville. We just ran this one, so we can give them a few more weeks to open registration for 2023!

5Ks are worth 1 point and anything longer is worth 2.

2021 MRC Racing Series

January 10th, 2021 No comments

The MRC Racing Series continues!

January was pretty much a wash out. Our usual local races were cancelled and there wasn’t much going on across the country.

This year we will have more 5K and 10K races and few half marathons.

This will allow everyone to collect points and have a chance to finish at the top. I realize that not everyone likes to run half marathons even if there is a cool prize.

We need a few halfs so people can get into the 2021 Virtual 100 Mile Club. Otherwise people would be running a race almost every week.

To give everyone options, there will be several 5K and 10K races each month. You can run as many or as few as you like.

Some will be virtual and may be in another state. Most of the virtual races I have selected sponsor a good cause that I hope some people will be interested in supporting.

Believe it or not, there are several in-person races in February!

The Super Sunday 5 Miler and 5K in Kendal Square is the first! There is a Melrose Team and six people have already signed up!

There is also a Super Sunday 4 Miler in Bedford, NH which you can run in-person or virtually.

In the Mardi Gras theme we have the King Cake Virtual 5K and 10K from February 6 through 16th.

The next three races in February are out of state virtual races which support cancer research or benefit families effected by Autism.

The March is On!

March starts with the Virtual Maui 5K which you can run from March 1st through 7th and dream of that beautiful island!

On March 13th there is the Green Stride St. Patty’s 5K and 10K in-person and the South Boston Boys & Girls Club Virtual 5K. If you are really ambitious you could run two races that day. Just saying.

South Boston actually gives you through March 21st to run.

The Green Stride races feature BEER, race photos and finish line videos!

March 13 also has the Virtual Pajama Run 5K. This race raises money to provide children in need with a complete new bed set delivered to their home.

I couldn’t pass up The Imaginary Pi Day 5K on 3.14! All of us can get a little geek on and run in circles for this virtual race. If you want to drive to Burlington, VT you can run this race in person.

We round out March with the West Elementary Virtual 5K on March 20th.

And the Rest of the Year?

Many races have not posted information for 2021. Some races that are currently in-person may have to go virtual or may be cancelled.

I want to feature as many local 5Ks as possible. But the further out you go out the less certainty there is.

So instead of providing a list of races that may not happen, I’m going to wait and add to the schedule every few weeks.

If you have an idea for races please let me know. I’m really interested in local in-person races.

Happy Running!

Andy
