MRC Racing Series

Dear Runners,

The Twin Lights Half is coming up next weekend. I hope everyone was able to take advantage of the $25 discount on the registration fee. $50 for a half marathon is a bargain. The Run to Remember registration is now $120!

The Melrose Firefighter’s 5K registration is open. I did not ask for a discount for this race.

The Jennifer Tinney 4th of July Races and the Mary O’Donnell 5K are still questionable. I have not been able to reach the Boxford Athletic Association about the Tinney races. On April 4th, the Race Director for the Mary O’Donnell 5K told me they would be posting a date soon, but nothing so far.

I’ll give these a few more weeks.

Registration for the Lone Gull 10K has not opened yet, but I’m 99% sure this race is still on.

Registration is open for the Hallmark Health 5K and Melrose Y Spooky Sprint 5K.

The Run For All Ages and Bill Rodgers Jingle Bell Run dates have been set, but I do not expect registration to open for a few more months.

I hope everyone has been enjoying the series so far. If you want to run one of these races but need a ride please ask on our FaceBook page. Someone always has room in their car and I have carpooled to each race so far.

What a turn out! I counted 29 people at one time, but I’m pretty sure some people were not in The Knights at the time.

Team MRC had a great presence at the event and we may have been the biggest club there.

A 15K ‘aint no walk in the park and you people showed up and did it! I’m proud of you and grateful to each of you for making our first club race event such a success.

Several club members won awards for their courageous efforts and one commented on how much sweater it was to be with so many friends and receive an award.

Running with friends is more fun than running alone. Having two tables full of MRC runners to talk to before and after the race was great.

Right now Cool Running hasn’t posted results. I’m collecting photos and will have a link to results and a shout out on my blog for the runners who won awards.

My post should be ready tomorrow morning. I’ll add a link to this post once it is posted.
