Spring is Virtually Here
Posted by Andy Nagelin in Club Races on February 21, 2021
I hope everyone is able to get out for a run in spite of this cold weather.
Spring is coming and I have just updated the Racing Series races for April.
Many races have not posted 2021 dates yet so I can’t complete the full schedule.
Some of the races on the schedule are in person events with a virtual option.
I encourage you to sign up for the virtual option.
April Races
The Hapalua Half in sunny Honolulu is our Half for the month of April.
You can run it any time in April and registration is $45. They will mail you a great shirt and medal.
Continuing with the seaside theme we have the Newport 5K Virtual which you can run any time in April. Registration is $20 for the Virtual 5K.

Moving inland we have the Nashoba Learning Group 5K For Autism which you can run between April 1st and 16th.
Registration is $27.37 and they encourage teams. T-shirts to all runners and medals to the fastest.
From April 10th to 17th we move to Berkshire County for the Sam Gomez 5K. This year’s race will benefit the North Berkshire Community Coalition in North Adams.
Registration is $25 and includes a cotton t-shirt.
Moving north to New Hampshire we have the Stoneyfield Earth Day 5K from April 1st to the 18th.
Virtual registration is $25 and includes a t-shirt. They plan an in person race also, but we encourage virtual racing.
Back to Boston for the BAA Virtual 5K. You can run this Boston classic the weekend of April 16-18.
For $45 you will get a race number and medal. For $60 you get all that and a race shirt.
On the 25th we head north again to Waterville Maine for the One in 5 5K.
Registration is $30 and includes a shirt if you register by March 25th.

2021 MRC Racing Series
Posted by Andy Nagelin in Club Races on January 10, 2021
The MRC Racing Series continues!
January was pretty much a wash out. Our usual local races were cancelled and there wasn’t much going on across the country.
This year we will have more 5K and 10K races and few half marathons.
This will allow everyone to collect points and have a chance to finish at the top. I realize that not everyone likes to run half marathons even if there is a cool prize.
We need a few halfs so people can get into the 2021 Virtual 100 Mile Club. Otherwise people would be running a race almost every week.
To give everyone options, there will be several 5K and 10K races each month. You can run as many or as few as you like.
Some will be virtual and may be in another state. Most of the virtual races I have selected sponsor a good cause that I hope some people will be interested in supporting.
Believe it or not, there are several in-person races in February!
The Super Sunday 5 Miler and 5K in Kendal Square is the first! There is a Melrose Team and six people have already signed up!
There is also a Super Sunday 4 Miler in Bedford, NH which you can run in-person or virtually.
In the Mardi Gras theme we have the King Cake Virtual 5K and 10K from February 6 through 16th.
The next three races in February are out of state virtual races which support cancer research or benefit families effected by Autism.
The March is On!
March starts with the Virtual Maui 5K which you can run from March 1st through 7th and dream of that beautiful island!
On March 13th there is the Green Stride St. Patty’s 5K and 10K in-person and the South Boston Boys & Girls Club Virtual 5K. If you are really ambitious you could run two races that day. Just saying.
South Boston actually gives you through March 21st to run.
The Green Stride races feature BEER, race photos and finish line videos!
March 13 also has the Virtual Pajama Run 5K. This race raises money to provide children in need with a complete new bed set delivered to their home.
I couldn’t pass up The Imaginary Pi Day 5K on 3.14! All of us can get a little geek on and run in circles for this virtual race. If you want to drive to Burlington, VT you can run this race in person.
We round out March with the West Elementary Virtual 5K on March 20th.
And the Rest of the Year?
Many races have not posted information for 2021. Some races that are currently in-person may have to go virtual or may be cancelled.
I want to feature as many local 5Ks as possible. But the further out you go out the less certainty there is.
So instead of providing a list of races that may not happen, I’m going to wait and add to the schedule every few weeks.
If you have an idea for races please let me know. I’m really interested in local in-person races.
Happy Running!
Andy
